Pioner and Builder: Founder and Mayor of Topeka.  Influenced the selection of this city as the Capital of Kansas.  Organized the Athchison Topeka and  Santa Fe Railroad company.  Obtained the original charter in the year 1838. Promoted the early developent ot the entire southwest.
